Ibas Seeks CAN’s Partnership in Restoring Rivers State Peace

Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas (Rtd), the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, has called on the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to join efforts in restoring peace and stability to the state.
During a meeting with CAN leaders at the Government House, Port Harcourt, Ibas emphasized the Church’s crucial role in reconciliation and moral leadership. He extended Easter greetings, describing the season as a reminder of hope and unity.
Ibas referenced his appointment following the State of Emergency declared by President Tinubu and reiterated his commitment to restoring order and preparing for a return to democracy. Since March 20, he has engaged with various stakeholders to rebuild trust.
He encouraged CAN to use its influence to promote peace and unity, saying, “The unity of the Church is the seedbed for the unity of the state. Where the Church leads in love, the people will follow in peace.”
CAN’s leadership, led by Most Reverend Dr. D.E. Kala-Dukubo, responded by seeking active involvement in the peace process and urging the administration to address misinformation and sanitation during the emergency.
