BREAKING: Five new cases of coronavirus confirmed in Nigeria
The “used to be” new virus which has been pronounced Pandemic by the World Health Organisation has taken a twist in Nigeria as fresh cases are confirmed.
Onyxnewsng understands that the Federal Ministry of Health has announced five new cases of coronavirus making the total number of confirmed cases in Nigeria to eight.
The Nigeria’s Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire confirmed the cases in a press briefing which was still ongoing as at the time of this report, on Wednesday 18 march in Abuja.
He analysed the five new cases of the diseases, saying, three of the victims came from the United States of America including a mother and a child while two others also from the US, and an American who came through Nigeria land border.
“We urge Nigerians to remain calm as public health response activities are intensified across the country,” the Minister of Health said.
Updating Nigerians on the development, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) tweeted: “@Fmohnigeria has announced 5 new cases of #COVID19 in Nigeria bringing the total number confirmed cases in Nigeria to 8. All 5 cases had a travel history to the UK/USA.

NYSC orientation camp suspended over coronavirus till situation improves
In another situation, the federal government has issued a travel ban on 13 countries.
This was announced at a media briefing on Wednesday March 18 by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha.
The affected countries are: the United State of America, the United Kingdom, China, Japan, Iran, Switzerland, Norway, Netherland, France, South Korea, Germany, Italy and Spain.
In all, this is coming after the federal government of Nigeria late last month confirmed the very first of the Pandemic disease in Lagos.
The case was confirmed by the country’s Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire in a statement on February 28, 2020. The Minister saidthat the case involves an Italian citizen who works in Nigeria and just returned from Milan, Italy on the 25th of February 2020.
