COVID-19 Lockdown: Popular Nollywood actress defiles social gathering order, states reasons
Popular Nollywood actress and producer, Funke Akindele has explained why she held a party in her home in Amen Estate on Saturday.
The actress justified the reason for her actions despite the government’s order on social gathering of more than 20 people.
The actress celebrated her husband’s birthday in a lavish house party on Saturday, 4 April, took to her social media page to explain the reason for hosting people in her home.
In a now deleted tweet, Funke Akindele commented that she has been together with everyone in the party for over two-weeks.
She wrote;
“Thanks for the love guys!!!! We all have been together for over two weeks. We are safe and take all precautions!!! #ameestate is home for all.”
Nigerians have since expressed their displeasure in the actress act. Describing her action as highly irresponsible and disappointing, and described Akindele who happens to be an ambassador to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC and Dettol as a bad example to the nation.
They also called on the government to arrest them and isolate everyone who attended the party.
In another hand, Onyxnews Nigeria reports that the 14-day lockdown presently being observed in some parts of the country may be extended, according to Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
The governor said the ongoing lock down observed in Lagos may be extended. He made this comment on Saturday during a briefing with newsmen. He said a decision would be arrived at depending on how things unfold in the coming days.
