BREAKING: Borno Monarch Ibrahim El-Kanemi is dead

Well known Borno State monarch, Shehu of Bama, Alhaji Kyari Ibrahim El-Kanemi is dead.
El-Kanemi died on Monday afternoon at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH).
This announcement was made by the Borno State, Commissioner for Information, Babakura Jatto.
“We regret to announce to you that the Shehu of Bama, Alhaji Kyari Ibn Ibrahim Umar Al-Amim El-Kanemi has passed away. Shehu Bama went to the hospital today and died,” the commissioner said.
Jatto also said the cause of the monarch’s death was unknown and promised that government would keep the public informed after receiving information from the hospital, urging the media not to speculate on the cause of death of the monarch.
El-Kanemi was installed the Shehu of Bama in 1990.
Earlier on Monday 27 April, Onyxnews Nigeria reported that Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, had finally spoken on the mysterious death in Kano state, saying it was not connected to coronavirus.
Alhaji Aminu made this announcement in his statement on Sunday April 26, explaining that he was informed by the State’s Ministry of Health that the ‘mysterious’ deaths were not as a result of COVID-19 spread.
The Emir said, “My people may the peace and blessing of Allah be upon you all. We wish to inform you that, the Kano state ministry of health has informed us about the update on the outbreak of COVID-19 in various places across the state.”
