Former Minister of Education is dead.
A former Minister of Education Alhaji Dauda Birma, is dead.
Birma died of undisclosed illness in the early hours of Tuesday at his home in the Adamawa State capital, Yola.
His associate, Suleiman Yerima, confirmed earlier on Tuesday, January 5th that he was with the deceased in the afternoon of Monday.

His son, Musa Dauda Birma, also stated in a Facebook post, “Innalillahi wa inna ilaihin rajiun, I lost a part of me that can never be replaced. May Allah forgive your sins and grant you janna.”
Born 21 July 1940, in Garkida, Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa State, Birma held many positions in the old Northern region, and served as education minister under the military regime of late Gen. General Sani Abacha.
The deceased who was also two-time presidential aspirant is an alumnus of Ahamdu Bello University Zaria, 1967 cohort.
He was a presidential aspirant under the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP).
