Twitter Ban: How Lai Mohammed Sneaked out Of Nigeria To Meet With Twitter Boss Jack Dorsey
Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed has reportedly departed Nigeria to the United States to meet with top executives of micro blogging site, Twitter.
SaharaReporters said a video was released showing the minister and Olusegun Adeyemi, Special Assistant to the President (Media), Office of the Minister of Information and Culture, in a Delta Airline heading to the US.
In the video, Lai Mohammed was seen trying to disguise with a baseball cap.
“You can see Lai Mohammed trying to disguise with a face cap, he flew on seat 8A in the business class section of Delta Airline from Lagos to New York.
“He flew with his Special Assistant, Olusegun Adeyemi who took seat 8C in the business class”, a source said.

He said that Twitter might establish a Nigerian office in 2022 as the suspension will be lifted ‘very soon’.
He said; “We have made it clear what we want from Twitter. The end for amicable resolution is very much in sight.”
“We appreciate the patience of Nigerians. I want to assure you that we have made very tremendous progress. We have met with Twitter both physically and in writing. We are actually almost there.”
“They (Twitter) have shown a lot of flexibility, the conversation has not been acrimonious.”
On 5 June 2021, the federal government led by President Buhari officially put an indefinite ban on Twitter, restricting it from operating in Nigeria after the social media platform deleted tweets made by the President Muhammadu Buhari warning the south eastern people of Nigeria, predominantly Igbo people.
The Nigerian government claimed that the deletion of the President’s tweets factored into their decision but it was ultimately based on “a litany of problems with the social media platform in Nigeria, where misinformation and fake news spread through it have had real world violent consequences”.
