BREAKING! Nnamdi Kanu Defeats FG In Court
Onyxnewsng gathered that the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu won a court battle against the Federal Government of Nigeria on Wednesday in Abia State.
The FG’s appeal to the High Court’s jurisdiction to hear Kanu’s basic rights action was denied by Justice Ben Anya of the Abia State High Court.
Kanu has filed the fundamental human rights complaint against the Nigerian government through his special attorney, Aloy Ejimakor.
In the lawsuit, Ejimakor argued that the invasion of the IPOB leader’s home in Abia State in 2017 was illegal and an infringement of his constitutional rights.

He asked the court to declare his detention and torture in Kenya last year unconstitutional.
The case, in which Ejimakor filed in August, further sought the court to stop the Nigerian government from prosecuting Kanu, mandating it to release the IPOB leader and tender an apology to Kanu, among others.
But, during today’s proceedings, the Nigerian government challenged the jurisdiction of the court to hear the suit.
However, Ejimakor declared this in a tweet.
According to him, “Breaking: MNK wins as Abia High Court rejects Nigerian government’s challenge to its jurisdiction to hear Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s fundamental rights suit. Judgment on other issues still in progress.”
Meanwhile, The Punch reports that exhibits likely to be tendered against Kanu by the government have been brought to the courtroom where the arraignment is scheduled to hold today.
Electronic equipment like cameras have also been brought to court and being inspected by the lead counsel to the Federal Government, Shuaib Labaran.
