Details On How AMAA’s Founder, Peace Anyiam-Osigwe Died In Lagos Emerge
Peace Anyiam-Osigwe, one of the pillars of the Nigerian entertainment industry and the founder of the prestigious Africa Movies Academy Awards (AMAA), has died.
How Peace Anyiam-Osigwe died
Since Saturday, she was reportedly in a coma at St. Nicolas Hospital in Lagos, where she reportedly passed away on Tuesday.
While colleagues and close friends, some of whom visited her in hospital, refused to believe the news of her death, insisting that she was only in the ICU, renowned film director Zik Zulu broke the news.
“Peace, our president, has passed away. Saturday reports indicated that she was in a coma at Saint Nicholas.
“Her family has now confirmed her transition, however. May her life’s memory be a blessing. Peace be with you,” he writes on a Nollywood platform.
Obi Emelonye, an award-winning producer, confirmed her passing on his social media accounts, despite the family’s efforts to release the news with respect.
As her contributions to the industry cannot be overstated, the hardworking woman will be remembered as one of those who shaped the new Nollywood.
Peace Anyiam-Osigwe was not only the founder of the African Movie Academy Awards, AMAA, but also the President of the Association of Movie Producers, AMP, and one of Nollywood’s most prominent figures.
