JUST IN: Gunmen Kidnap SAN For The Second Time, Kill Aides In Rivers
Unknown gunmen have abducted a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Okey Wali and shot dead two of his aides in Rivers State on Monday, April 18.
The kidnappers wore military camouflage to committed the crime, Onyxnewsng gathered.
It was also gathered that the criminals had been following the SAN and his escorts for some time before launching their attack near the Obiri-Ikwerre interchange in the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.
In 2014, Wali who was a former President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) was kidnapped, which was the first time he was kidnapped.
The aide and driver of the SAN were killed, while the police officers accompanying them only sustained serious injuries.
The criminals fired at a police van that was accompanying the SAN.
The kidnappers shot at the tyre of the police van that was accompanying the SAN, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle. The vehicle subsequently summersaulted.
A source has said: “This afternoon, kidnappers abducted a senior attorney near the Obiri-Ikwerre interchange,”
“They murdered the attorney’s driver and one of his assistants. They abducted the man and fled. “Three police officers in another van were involved in an accident because the criminals shot the van’s tyre before going after their target.”
The Public Relations Officer of the state Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, when contacted, confirmed the kidnap.
