Peter Obi reacts as Tinubu is sworn in
Peter Obi took to his Facebook page on Monday afternoon to express his thoughts following the inauguration of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as Nigeria’s 16th president.
In a reflective tone, Obi called on Nigerians to engage in deep introspection and reevaluate their aspirations, expectations, and the underlying causes of missed opportunities and disappointments.
Recognizing the critical juncture the nation finds itself in, Obi emphasized the need for collective action to comprehend the challenges faced by Nigeria as a young democracy.
He urged citizens to renew their commitment to the Nigerian ideal, stressing the importance of safeguarding and rebuilding their only homeland.
Highlighting the significance of the judiciary as a fundamental pillar of democracy, Obi appealed for respect and dignity to be accorded to this institution.
He expressed hope that the ongoing election cases before the judiciary would serve as an opportunity for it to reaffirm its independence and integrity, for the benefit of all Nigerians.
Aware of the potential challenges he and his supporters may face in the coming months, Obi expressed concern about orchestrated efforts to tarnish his image.
He cautioned that campaigns of calumny would be used to defame his character and undermine his hard-earned integrity.
Nevertheless, he reaffirmed that no amount of falsehood could alter the substance of his character or diminish his unwavering commitment to a better Nigeria.
