Gov Mbah Handed Victory Over NYSC Certificate Forgery

The Federal High Court in Abuja barred the NYSC from denying that it issued Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah’s certificate, based on the evidence presented to the court.
According to Judge Inyang Ekwo’s ruling on Monday, the evidence presented in court confirmed that Mbah completed the NYSC program and that the NYSC issued him a certificate of completion.
The judge found that the NYSC misrepresented the facts when it claimed that it did not issue the certificate Mbah submitted to INEC before the last governorship election.
The judge faulted the NYSC for not producing before the court, two files containing information about Mbah’s participation in the programme, noting that the corps handled the case with levity.
In addition to that, Justice Ekwo charged the National Youth Service Corp with a sum of N5m in favor of Peter Mbah.
Recall that there were allegations that Governor Mbah forged his NYSC certificate in order to run for governor in the election on March 18, 2023.
The Enugu State Governor had before his inauguration on May 29, sued the NYSC and Ibrahim Muhammad, the Corps director, for publishing a disclaimer denying the issuance of a discharge certificate to him on January 6, 2003.
Justice Ekwo prohibited the NYSC, Muhammad, and any of their agents from engaging in further publication until the court could fully hear and rule on the main case.
