U-17 World Cup: Germany Defeat France To Win Tittle
In a thrilling final match, Germany’s Under-17 football team emerged victorious against France in the World Cup final held in Indonesia.
This win not only secured them the U-17 world title but also made them the first team to claim both the world and European age titles in the same year.
Despite the humid conditions in Surakarta, Java, the game remained intensely contested with both teams unable to break the 2-2 deadlock during regular time, leading to extra time and eventually, a penalty shootout.
Goalkeeper Konstantin Heide played a crucial role for the German team, as he made two remarkable saves during the penalty shootout.
The decisive moment came when Borussia Dortmund’s Almugera Kabar scored the winning penalty, sealing the shootout with a score of 4-3 in Germany’s favor.
Although Germany had missed two penalties, France also faltered with two misses of their own, allowing their opponents to make a comeback in the shootout. Ultimately, Tidiam Gomis missed the second-to-last penalty for France, leading to Germany’s victory.
During regular time, Germany had taken a comfortable two-goal lead, courtesy of goals by Paris Brunner from Borussia Dortmund in the 28th minute and captain Noah Darvich in the 50th minute.
However, France showed immense resilience and quickly responded with a goal from Monaco’s Saimon Bouabre just three minutes after Darvich’s goal.
The French team received a one-man advantage when Germany’s midfielder Winners Osawe was shown a red card for a dive, while already carrying a yellow card.
Despite being a player down, Germany held strong until the 85th minute when Mathis Amougou scored an equalizer for France.
Throughout the match and especially during the penalty shootout, Germany’s defense displayed unwavering determination, ultimately securing their victory and following in the footsteps of the previous year’s champions, Brazil.
This triumph highlights the skill, teamwork, and composure of the young German team, solidifying their place as the best U-17 team in the world.
