BREAKING: 3,963 Teachers Fail Qualifying Exam — TRCN
3,963 teachers who took the Professional Qualifying Examination for teachers in November 2023, organized by the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria, failed the exam.
The exam is designed to assess the professional knowledge of teachers, and those who pass are eligible for certification by the TRCN.
During an interview with journalists on Monday, the Registrar of the TRCN, Prof. Josiah Ajiboye, stated that the exam results were disappointing, but that the council remains committed to improving the quality of teaching in Nigeria. Prof.
Ajiboye gave a breakdown of the exam results, and emphasized the need for continued investment in teacher training and professional development.
“A total of 15,753 sat the examination in 38 Centres across the country, out of this, we have 10,636 that passed which is about 72.9 per cent and those that failed are 3,963.”
The Registrar also noted that a number of candidates were absent from the exam, and others had their results cancelled due to examination malpractice.
