This unfortunate event occurred just weeks after a cyclone had already triggered severe flooding in the same areas. As a consequence, hundreds of individuals are currently stranded in the state of Tamil Nadu due to submerged roads.

The state governor’s office shared via a platform called X, formerly known as Twitter, that the situation in districts such as Thoothukudi and Tiruelveli is particularly dire.

Tamil Nadu state chief minister M.K. Stalin said “historically high rain” falls had “severely impacted the livelihoods of many and caused extensive damage to infrastructure”.
