Olamide Gave Me Career Breakthrough – Zlatan Ibile Reveals
Omoniyi Temidayo Raphael, professionally known as Zlatan Ibile, a Nigerian singer and rapper, considers his 2017 collaborative track with Olamide, titled ‘My Body,’ as the pivotal moment in his career.
He expresses that Olamide’s contribution to the song was transformative and had a significant impact on his musical journey.
During a recent interview with renowned YouTuber Korty EO, Zlatan shared his experience of persistently requesting Olamide for a collaboration through direct messages on social media.
Despite encountering initial disappointments, Zlatan’s determination paid off as the collaboration eventually materialized.
He attributes the success and trajectory of his career to this significant collaboration with Olamide.
He said, “Olamide giving me a verse at that time was life-changing for me. I was always tracking him and begging him in the DM for a verse.
“He gave me appointments twice but they didn’t materialise until the third time. He invited me to his house and because I was doing more rap, I thought we would be doing a rap song, then all of a sudden, Olamide started singing an Afrobeats song, ‘My Body.’ He did that because he knew it was what would make me an instant star.
“I recorded my verse and that was how my story changed.”
