‘Over To You’ – Teni Urges Super Eagles To Avenge Nigerian Singer’s Grammy Loss To South African Tyla
Teni, the Nigerian singer also known as Teniola Apata, has called on the Super Eagles to give their all in the upcoming semi-final match against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana in the ongoing African Cup of Nations (AFCON).
She specifically urged Victor Osimhen, the star striker, and the rest of the team to ensure a resounding victory as a means of seeking revenge for the defeat suffered by Nigerian artists at the hands of South African singer Tyla at the 66th Grammys.
Recall that Nigeria Singers featuring the likes of Burna Boy, Ayra Starr, Davido, Asake, and Olamide, who were all nominated, were overlooked at the Grammys while Tyla, the only non-Nigerian nominee in the Best African Music Performance category, took home the award.
In a video message shared on her social media page, Teni passionately appealed to the Super Eagles players to avenge the Grammy loss by defeating South Africa in the semi-final clash, which will be held at Bouaké’s Stade de la Paix in Cote D’Ivoire.
She said, “Grammy there’s a problem. We have many parties. You have killed our groove.
“South Africa, Tyla’s ‘Water.’ Alright. [Victor] Osimhen, over to you. [Ademola] Lookman, over to you. South Africa, you will dance Amapiano after your AFCON defeat. You killed my groove. Grammy why?”
