BREAKING: Supreme Court Affirms Ododo’s Victory As Kogi Gov
On Friday, the Supreme Court brought an end to the legal dispute over the Kogi state Governorship seat by affirming Usman Ododo of the All Progressive Congress (APC) as the rightful winner of the election.
The Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate, Muritala Ajaka, and his party had contested the Court of Appeal’s decision, which upheld the Kogi state Governorship Election Petition Tribunal’s ruling in favor of Ododo.
However, the Supreme Court’s five-member panel unanimously dismissed Ajaka’s appeal, citing a lack of merit.
The court found that Ajaka failed to prove allegations of substantial non-compliance with the Electoral Act and noted that claims of age falsification and certificate forgery are pre-election matters within the jurisdiction of the Federal High Court.
With 446,237 votes, Ododo had won the November 11 governorship election, defeating Ajaka, who secured 259,052 votes, as announced by INEC.
