BREAKING: Catholic Church Elects New Pope As White Smoke Rises
White smoke has been seen rising from the chimney above the Sistine Chapel in Vatican City, indicating that the Catholic Church has elected a new Pope.
The newly elected pontiff succeeds Pope Francis, who passed away last month at the age of 88.
As of now, the identity of the new Pope has not been revealed, as his name has yet to be officially announced.
The smoke appeared shortly after 1 p.m. on Thursday, during the second day of the Conclave, signifying that a candidate secured the required two-thirds majority vote.
Report gathered showed that, a large crowd has gathered in St. Peter’s Square, eagerly awaiting the appearance of the new Pope on the grand balcony of St. Peter’s Basilica.
