NGF Expresses Solidarity with Niger State Over Flood Tragedy

The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), led by its chairman AbdulRaman AbdulRazaq, has extended heartfelt sympathies to the people and government of Niger State following the devastating flood in Mokwa Local Government Area. The flood has claimed at least 21 lives and caused widespread destruction of property valued in millions of Naira.
In a statement on Friday, AbdulRazaq described the flood’s impact as “shocking,” emphasizing the forum’s solidarity with those affected. “We sincerely commiserate with the affected families and express our support to the state government at this difficult time,” he said.
The NGF praised the prompt interventions by the Niger State Government and emergency responders, acknowledging their crucial role in disaster relief. The forum also reflected on the broader implications of the flood, linking it to climate change challenges that require urgent and coordinated action.
“We commit ourselves as leaders of our people to continue to work with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to not only help our people cope with this global challenge but also to strengthen mitigative actions and relief institutions,” AbdulRazaq stated.
The statement concluded with a call for public cooperation and prayers for the victims. “We pray God to console families who have lost loved ones and properties in the Mokwa incident, and we urge citizens to support the government’s efforts to mitigate the impacts of climate change,” he added.
