APC, NEC Confirm Date To Announce Party’s Chairman
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has set July 24 for its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja, where a decision will be made on whether Deputy Chairman (North), Ali Bukar Dalori, will continue as acting national chairman until the national convention or if a new substantive chairman will be appointed.
This development was disclosed by APC Deputy National Secretary, Festus Fuanter, after the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) met on Monday in Abuja.
Former APC National Chairman and ex-Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, resigned from his position on Friday, citing health concerns.
Following a meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa and in line with the party’s constitution, Dalori was appointed acting national chairman.
APC Deputy National Secretary stated, “As you are all aware, the National Executive Committee is the apex body of the party and so, whatever it is that we do now, including the endorsement of the national chairman, must also receive the blessings of the NEC.
“And during the meeting, if they so desire that a new chairman is nominated, we’ll also accept such nomination and then wait for the convention where the final position of the party will be made as far as the substantive chairman is concerned.
“So, that’s as much as I can tell you. The suggested date for the NEC meeting is the 24th of July, 2025. It’s going to be here, on the premises of the APC.”
