Maduka Okoye Hit With Betting Ban — Out Until October
Udinese goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has been handed a two-month suspension for illegal betting in Italy, according to Reports.
There were initial fears that the Nigerian shot-stopper could face up to a four-year ban if found guilty of sporting fraud.
However, authorities settled on a lesser charge of illegal betting.
Okoye was accused of intentionally getting booked during Udinese’s Serie A fixture against Lazio on March 11, 2024, where he received a yellow card for time-wasting in the 64th minute.
The 25-year-old will sit out one Coppa Italia match and seven Serie A games.
He is expected to return to action on October 19.
