D’Tigress Edge Mali To Win Fifth Consecutive AfroBasket 2024 Title— Highlights Of The Showdown
Nigeria’s D’Tigress emerged winner of the Women’s AfroBasket title following a 78-64 victory over Mali.
This fifth time consecutive victory was the seventh time Nigeria would lift the trophy.
On the same ground, Rena Wakama’s side extended their unbeaten streak at the Women’s AfroBasket tournament to 29 games.
Following this Triumph, D’Tigress have also qualified for the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup, which will be hosted by Germany.
Three countries – Mali, South Africa and Senegal are set to compete in the playoffs in March 2024 to fight for a place at the World Cup.
Highlights of the showdown:
D’Tigress dominated the first quarter, edging out the Malians 26-21.
Both teams fought hard in the second quarter, which ended 41-41.
D’Tigress, however, took charge in the third quarter, prevailing 61-56.
In the end, Nigeria claimed the title with a 78-64 victory.
