BREAKING: Trouble As Gunmen Blow Up Owerri Prison, Free Prisoners (Videos)

Gunmen have blown up Owerri Prison.
OnyxNews Nigeria reports that a correctional centre and police investigations department in Owerri in Imo State, southeast Nigeria, were set ablaze by unidentified attackers in an overnight operation on Monday, April 5.
This online news platform understands that reports on social media by witnesses said the attackers struck the prison and police department shortly after midnight, freeing some inmates and suspects. Heavy gunfire also rang through the area.
Though, Amnesty International said over the weekend that Owerri Correctional Centre had over 2,156 inmates as against its installed capacity of 548 people.
A report reaching OnyxNews Nigeria as at when filing this publication, stated that, about 3000 inmates escaped from the correctional facility, parked vehicles and some buildings in the centre were on fire, and pictures shared on Twitter, showed massive smokes billowing from the alleged scenes of the attack that lasted for more than two hours.
