BREAKING: Lagos Airport Shut Down As Dead Body Was Found On Runway
The Nigerian Airport was temporarily shut down on Thursday, May 19, after a mangled body was discovered on the runway.
The international wing of the country’s main airport in Lagos was temporarily closed, according to airport officials.
However, the identity of the deceased man could not be determined, nor could it be determined whether he was killed by an aircraft taking off or landing on the runway.
Onyxnewsng gathered that the body was discovered on Runway 18R during a routine check by Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) runway inspection.
A team of officials from the FAAN and the Police at the MMIA who confirmed the news to the media, said the command was summoned in the early hours of Thursday to remove the body.
The police are still looking into the identity of the deceased man and how he got into the international airport’s security area.
Meanwhile, the Ethiopian Airlines flight 3907, a Boeing 77F with the registration number ETAVN, was on its way from Lome, Togo to Lagos, Nigeria. Following a brief hold, the flight was diverted back to Lome.
