BREAKING: NLC, TUC Set To End Nationwide Strike
According to recent reports, the federal government of Nigeria has reached an agreement with the Nigeria Labour Congress and the Trade Union Congress, aimed at resolving issues that led to strike actions by the unions.
After the withdrawal of Labor from negotiations regarding the National Minimum Wage (NMW), the National Assembly intervened on June 2, 2024, to address the situation.
Subsequently, organized labor declared a nationwide strike on June 3, 2024, to emphasize their demands.
In the interest of the nation, the Federal Government conducted a meeting with Labor on June 3, 2024, at the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation to put an end to the strike.
Following in-depth discussions and interactions between the two parties, the following resolutions were agreed upon:
1. The President of Nigeria is dedicated to implementing a National Minimum Wage that exceeds N60,000.
2. To achieve this, the Tripartite Committee will convene daily over the next week to finalize an acceptable National Minimum Wage agreement.
