The Ojude Oba Festival, a hallmark cultural celebration in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, witnessed a splendid display of tradition on Sunday, June 8, 2025, as Governor Dapo Abiodun appeared in full Yoruba regalia. The event, which honors the Awujale of Ijebuland, was marked by vibrant festivities and deep cultural pride.

Governor Abiodun’s participation was highlighted in a video he shared on X, showing him dressed in a flowing dansiki and a matching Yoruba cap. His poised stance and elegant attire underscored the beauty of Yoruba cultural dress and the significance of the festival.

In his accompanying message, the governor said, “We are getting set as we step out to join our people in celebrating this year’s Ojúde Ọba Festival — a timeless tradition that showcases the rich cultural heritage, unity, and pride of Ijebuland.”

He further paid homage to the festival’s central figure, stating, “As always, we look forward to honouring our revered monarch, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Sikiru Kayode Adetona, GCON and celebrating with the good people of Ijebuland in grand style.”

The Ojude Oba Festival is traditionally observed on the third day after Eid-al-Adha and serves as a platform for the Ijebu people to celebrate their monarch and cultural identity.
