Reps ban large gathering at religious places

The House of Representatives has banned all forms of open worships across the country over the corona virus pandemic.
The lawmakers said the measure was based on reports from Saudi Arabia, Iran and the Vatican that have banned open worship.
They said Nigeria should act and suspend such large gatherings. They also banned all visitors from the National Assembly till further notice.
With this development, constituents will either write their representatives and wait for reply or see members in the constituency offices.
Moving the motion of quick public importance, Rep. Zakari Isa Chawai said even though government has put some measures in place to ensure flight restrictions into the country, there is the need to restrict public gatherings.
Chawai appreciated the management of the NYSC for shutting down its orientation camps across the country, noting that it was necessary to take more proactive measure and quarantine travellers to the country.
NYSC suspended orientation camp
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has revealed the real reason the orientation camp was suspended.
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Director General, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim, has revealed the true reason orientation camp exercise was suspended.
Explaining the reasons, Ibrahim said that the decision was taken as a precautionary measure to prevent spread of the deadliest Covid-19 known as coronavirus.
The Brigadier General in a phone conversation with Daily Trust, said no case of the virus has been recorded as at the time of filing this report.
Last week Thursday, March 12, NYSC performed the swearing-in ceremony for the 2020 Batch A, Stream 1 corps members, who on Tuesday 10 went into the orientation camps and to finish up with the orientation camp on March 30.
The management of National Youth Service Corps Scheme has suspended the ongoing orientation exercise in all camps across Nigeria to stop the spread of coronavirus pandemic.
On Wednesday, the scheme released a statement signed by the NYSC management, and it stated that all corps members would proceed to their places of primary duties.
The Youth Service Corp members will be sent to their places of primary duties while they are expected to return to camp when situation becomes better.
