BREAKING: Nigeria records eight fresh cases of coronavirus

In less than 24 hours 10 new cases of coronavirus was confirmed in Nigeria, the country has detected eight fresh cases of the pandemic.
Onyxnews Nigeria reports that the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) recorded eight new COVID-19 cases in a tweet on the micro-blogging site, Twitter on Sunday night, 5 April 2020.
This reliable online news platform understands that the NCDC stated that the eight cases of the deadly pandemic recorded on Sunday night, 5 were seen in Lagos and 2 in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja and 1 in Kaduna State.
The NCDC tweeted: “eight new cases of #COVID19 have been reported in Nigeria: 5 in Lagos, 2 in FCT and 1 in Kaduna.
As at 09:30pm 5th April there are 232 of confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria. Thirty-three have been discharged with five deaths,” the centre tweeted.

The centre for disease control also listed states affected with the virus so far. It said: “As at 09:30 pm 5th April, there are 232 confirmed cases 33 discharged 5 deaths For a breakdown of cases by state- http://covid19.ncdc.gov.ng Lagos- 120 FCT- 47 Osun- 20 Oyo- 9 Edo- 9 Bauchi- 6 Akwa Ibom- 5 Kaduna- 5 Ogun- 4 Enugu- 2 Ekiti- 2 Rivers-1 Benue- 1 Ondo- 1.”
On Sunday Onyxnews Nigeria reported that a 36-year-old man had died of coronavirus at a private health facility in Lagos, the state Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi revealed this.
This makes it the second death in Lagos state.
The first case of coronavirus-related death recorded was the 55-year-old man who died on Friday, April 2 at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba.
The health commissioner, who also confirmed that Lagos had recorded more COVID-19 cases, said another coronavirus patient had been evacuated from the state.
He tweeted then, “We lost a COVID-19 patient – a 36-year-old Nigerian male who died in a private facility on the 4th of April, 2020. (The) total number of #COVID-19 patients who have died are now two.
“A case was evacuated bringing total evacuated to two. Adding that, “Six new cases of #COVID-19 confirmed, bringing total confirmed cases to 115. A #COVID-19 patient was discharged on the 4th of April, 2020. The number of #COVID-19 patients, who have fully recovered and discharged is now 24.”
Abayomi’s confirmation came a few hours after the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control on Sunday announced that the country had recorded one more death and two discharges.
