BREAKING: Market hours extended amid COVID-19 pandemic
Lagos market hours have been extended amid COVID-19 infection.
OnyxNews Nigeria reports that the Lagos State Government led by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has extended time of operations of food and non-food markets in the midst of coronavirus infection in Lagos.
The Lagos markets will henceforth be open at 8 am and close at 6 pm, a statement on this development revealed.
A statement issued by the Commissioner for Local Government and Community Affairs, Dr Wale Ahmed, said the decision of the Lagos market hours by Governor Sanwo-Olu is to further enhance trade and commerce as well as mitigate the hardship of the pandemic.
Ahmed stressed that the alternate days of operations will remain in force whereby food markets open on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday while non -food markets open on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Commissioner for Local Government and Community Affairs asked all traders to strictly adhere to the coronavirus protocols for their safety and the citizenry at large.
The statement reads; “Lagos markets are now expected to open at 8am and close at 6pm henceforth.
“The decision by Governor Babajide Sanwoolu is to further enhance trade and commerce as well as mitigate the hardship of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The alternate days of operations will remain in force whereby food markets open on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday while non-food markets open on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday,” the statement on Lagos market hours said.
