ADC to Obaseki collapsed at the swearing-in ceremony in Benin, Edo State capital.
The Aide-de-camp (ADC) to Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, on Thursday collapsed during the swearing-in ceremony of the governor and his deputy, Philip Shaibu, at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Edo State.
Governor Obaseki was reading his inaugural speech for his second term in office when the incident happened.
The low key event was held at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Edo State, and the oath of office was administered by the State Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Esther Edigin.
The occasion took place with provision for virtual participation following the government’s guidelines to check the spread of coronavirus.
Speaking after being sworn in, Obaseki promised that during his second term in office, his administration would be committed to working for every Edo State citizen and lifting their wellbeing by ensuring that the state grows into a globally competitive economy enabled by technology for the benefit of all her citizens.
He predicted that before 2025, the state would develop and grow its digital economy and operate a digital government.
“We are building, we will plug into the new digital age and will ensure we deliver better and efficient services to all our citizens,” Governor Obaseki added.
