Another closest ally to President Buhari has been reported sick.

OnyxNews Nigeria reports that One of President Muhammadu Buhari’s closest ally, Tanko Muhammad who is the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), has contracted COVID-19.

OnyxNews Nigeria quotes the Nation’s reporting that the CJN is presently in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, receiving medical treatment.

A member of the Supreme Court, Justice Ibrahim Saulawa disclosed this at the unveiling of the national headquarters of the Muslim Lawyers’ Association of Nigeria (MULAN) on Tuesday in Abuja.

Few hours later, Director of Information of Supreme Court, Dr Festus Akande, says the report which claims the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Tanko Muhammad has tested positive for COVID‐19 is mere rumour.

In a statement, Akande said there was no medical report stating that the CJN was COVID-19 positive.

Countering the earlier report of Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Saulawa’s announcement that stated that CJN tested positive for the raging virus.

“In furtherance to the press statement earlier issued , I wish to state categorically clear that there is no medical report so far made available by anybody indicating that the Hon. CJN has tested positive for Coronavirus .

“Those peddling the rumour should go a step further to confirm from their sources and equally obtain the copy of whatever laboratory test result they are relying on .

“As of this moment of issuing this statement , no one has so far shown me or any other person in Supreme Court a copy of the test result they are referring to in the report,” said Akande.

Justice Muhammad was absent at the swearing-in of 72 new Senior Advocates of Nigeria on Monday.

And his duty was performed by the next most senior Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Olabode Rhodes-Vivour who administered oaths to the new SANs.
