Massive Protest Ongoing As Okada Riders, Police Clash in Abuja

Commercial motorcycle operators popularly called Okada riders have taken to the streets of Abuja in massive protest.
The protest which took place on Sunday morning, created tension among residents in the satellite town of Karu.
The action of the riders has forced many residents to stay indoors, as the protesters were seen destroying vehicles and attacking innocent people.
Also, many churches in the area locked their gates and asked members to remain inside the church so as not to be caught in the protest.
Communities like Jikwoyi, Kurudu, Orozo, Karshi among others in the area are trapped as residents and motorists have been asked to keep off the route until normalcy is restored, Onyxnews understands.

According to eyewitnesses, a combination of soldiers and policemen have since been deployed to the area to maintain order.
The riders were reported to be fighting the security operatives with with stones and other weapons.
