Popular Nigerian Football Player Is Dead.
Onyxnewsng reports that a Green Eagles striker, Thompson Usiyan died in his Lamest, Redonda Beach home in California, USA on Tuesday, August 31 2021.
He died at the age of 65.

Details about his death were still sketchy as at the time of this publication.
Usiyan rose to prominence with the then-Midwestern State academicals before being invited to the senior national team.
Usiyen was the Green Eagles’ leading goal scorer until he left for further studies in America.
His death left a significant void in the national team.
Dr. Felix Owolabi, one of his senior national teammate at the time, expressed shock at Usiyan’s death, saying it was a huge loss to the ex-family player’s.

Dr. Felix said: “We just lost Segun Adeleke in America two weeks ago, and now it’s Usiyan. I pray that God gives his family the strength to bear this unrecoverable loss.
“In the attack, Usiyan was a joy to watch. His contributions are not easily forgotten. His departure for the United States at the time left a significant void in the team. We would have struggled to win the Nations Cup in 1980 if it hadn’t been for coach Father Tiko’s ingenuity in converting Segun Odegbami into a striker,” he said.
