Government in Nigeria has declared a day public holiday.
Onyxnewsng reports that Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State has declared Friday, October 8 work free-day to enable all citizens go to their voting units to participate in the local government elections scheduled for Saturday, October 9.

According to the report, Lalong who made the declaration in a state-wide broadcast to the people on Thursday also said that on the day of election, all vehicular movements would be restricted from 7am to 4pm throughout the 17 Local Government Areas of the State, adding that Only those on essential duties will be allowed to move to their duty posts.

The governor said government has received assurances from the state electoral body (PLASIEC) of its preparedness to conduct free, fair and transparent elections in line with the constitution and other relevant guidelines.
