BREAKING: Popular Nigerian Governor Flown To UK In Wheelchair
A former APC Governor has been airlifted in a wheelchair to the United Kingdom for medical treatment.
Abdul’aziz Yari, the former governor of Zamfara State, has been airlifted to the United Kingdom in a wheelchair.
According to Sahara Reporters, Yari was in poor medical condition when he was carried to the airport for his six-hour travel to the United Kingdom on a British Airways plane.
“Yari is taking a British Airways flight to the United Kingdom for medical treatment. On Saturday morning, a source at the airport claimed, “He was even carried in a wheelchair.”
From May 2011 to May 2019, the 54-year-old politician served as governor of Zamfara State.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission arrested Yari in April 2021 for alleged unlawful financial activities and theft of cash.
He had already been interrogated by EFCC operatives in Lagos in February of that year, after which the Federal High Court in Abuja ordered the final seizure of monies held by him at Zenith and Polaris banks.
The sum of $56,056.75 allegedly lodged in his Polaris Bank account; N12.9m, N11.2m, $303m, N217,388.04 and $311.8m allegedly stored in multiple Zenith Bank accounts in his name and companies are among the alleged financial breaches against Yari.
