Atleast 1300 People Killed As Earthquake Hits Turkey And Syria
At least 1,300 people have been killed and many are injured after a 7.8 magnitude earthquake, and several aftershocks, caused widespread destruction in Turkey and Syria, Onyxnewsng gathered.
Efforts to rescue could be hampered by difficult weather conditions due to set in over some of the areas affected during the disaster.
At least 2,800 buildings are said to have been destroyed in this morning’s first quake, which has left thousands of people homeless.
Centuries-old castle in Turkey destroyed in earthquake
Turkey’s centuries-old Gaziantep Castle is just one of thousands of structures to have been severely damaged after a 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit the country.
News agencies in the country reported that some bastions in the east, south, and southeast parts of the historical building had been destroyed.
Debris scattered across the roads, along with iron railings from around the castle.

Meanwhile, in more mountainous regions, temperatures are not expected to rise above freezing at all in the coming days, which could mean snowfall of 50-100 cm.
In the Turkish region around the epicentre of the first quake, heavy rain is expected, while temperatures will be only 3-4C during the day and well below freezing at night.
Around 3-5 cm of snow is also set to fall, while further north in Turkey, heavier snow is expected.
