UCL: Manchester City’s Haaland Sets New Record
Erling Haaland set a new record for the fastest player to score 40 goals in the UEFA Champions League, doing so in only 35 matches.
The Manchester City striker scored in his team’s 3-2 win over RB Leipzig, bringing his total to 40 goals.
The previous record was held by Ruud van Nistelrooy, who needed 41 matches to reach 40 goals.
In addition to breaking the previous record, Haaland also surpassed Kylian Mbappe’s mark for fastest to 40 goals in the Champions League, which Mbappe reached in 59 matches.
Lionel Messi and Robert Lewandowski both took 61 games to reach the same milestone.
Haaland’s speed and consistency as a goalscorer are unparalleled among his contemporaries.
