We’re Determined To Establish Peace In South-East – Tinubu
President Bola Tinubu stated that the federal government is committed to utilizing its available resources in order to bring about peace in the South-East geopolitical zone of the country.
Tinubu made this statement during the unveiling of the Peace in South-East Project (PISE-P) and the Thanksgiving Service/Homecoming ceremony that honored Chief Benjamin Kalu, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives.
The event was well attended and took place at the Sports Arena of Bende Local Government Area.
The PISE-P is a five-year program initiated by the deputy speaker to address the complex socio-economic challenges and security threats prevalent in the South-East region.
The president, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, acknowledged the importance of the zone as an industrial hub that significantly contributes to the country’s economic development.
The Federal Government expressed its concern regarding the extensive economic devastation caused by non-state actors in the region.
The President emphasized that the government will not allow any illicit activities by individuals who claim to be advocates for the people of the South-East to continue in the region.
“We know that the South-East has weathered too many storms but the current economic stagnation has shaken the foundation of the region.
“We are not going to sit back and watch the fire go beyond what we can handle.
“We are here to extinguish the fire permanently,” He said.
