Udinese To Play One Game Without Fans After Racist Abuse
Udinese has been sanctioned to hold a match without spectators in response to the racist abuse directed toward AC Milan’s goalkeeper, Mike Maignan.
The Italian league’s disciplinary committee made this announcement following the incident, which occurred during Milan’s match against Udinese.
The game was temporarily stopped due to repeated offensive remarks aimed at Maignan from an individual behind the goal he was guarding.
Serie A said it had “decided to sanction Udinese with the obligation to play a match behind closed doors”.
Udinese has taken steps to identify the responsible party and has announced a lifetime ban for the person responsible for the initial abuse.
The club said, “This person will face a lifetime ban from attending any Udinese Calcio matches.
“This ban is effective immediately.”
Furthermore, reports indicate that a 46-year-old man from near Udine has been identified and is believed to be the individual seen in a widely circulated video shouting racist insults at Maignan.
