Asake Emerges Winner As 2024 MOBO Best Africa Act Ahead Of Tyla, Davido, Others
Ahmed Ololade, a Nigerian singer widely known as Asake, emerged as the recipient of the prestigious Best African Artist of the Year award at the 2024 MOBO Awards held in Sheffield, United Kingdom, on Wednesday evening.
Defeating fellow compatriots such as Davido, Ayra Starr, Rema, Grammy-winning South African artist Tyla, and others, the ‘Mr Money’ singer secured this remarkable achievement.
With this win, Asake joins the ranks of prominent Nigerian artists such as 2Baba, D’Banj, Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy, who have all previously been honored with the Best African Act accolade at the MOBO Awards.
Additionally, Limoblaze, another Nigerian singer, was crowned the Best Gospel Act at the event, while British-Nigerian rapper Tunde claimed the title of Best New Artist.
British rapper Central Cee stood out as the top winner of the night, securing two awards: Best Male Act and Song of the Year for his track ‘Sprinter’, featuring British-Nigerian rapper Dave.
In the international categories, Drake and 21 Savage shared the title of Best International Act, and the legendary Soul II Soul was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
