UPDATE: Ex-Edo Dep Gov, Imasuen Withdraws From APC’s Gov Primary Race
Former Edo Deputy Governor Chief Lucky Imasuen has joined Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu in opting out of the ongoing All Progressives Congress (APC) direct governorship primary election.
Imasuen and Ize-Iyamu were part of the 12 governorship aspirants who underwent screening and were approved by a committee set up by the APC’s National Working Committee (NWC).
Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu withdrew from the race on Friday, and Chief Lucky Imasuen’s withdrawal letter was made public on Saturday morning.
In his letter addressed to his loyal supporters, the former deputy governor clarified that he was stepping back from the race to promote peace and unity.
He said: “I have come to the conclusion that since members of our National Working Committee (NWC), in their wisdom, have expressed their preference for zoning the governorship position to Edo Central Senatorial District, it is wise to align with the decision of the party.
“I am immensely grateful for your unwavering support and belief in me, throughout this journey. Your dedication and passion have been the driving force behind my campaign.
“While this decision was not made lightly, I trust that you will understand, and continue to support our party, as we work together towards our shared goals.
“From the foregoing, I am ready to support whoever emerges as our candidate in the primary election.”
