BREAKING: Gunmen Shot NDLEA Officer, Abduct Others In Sokoto
Gunmen shot and killed an official from the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and kidnapped three individuals on Sultan Abubakar III International Airport road in Sokoto.
According to a resident of the area, Muhammad Baba Usman, whose son was among those taken captive, the armed men carried out the attack around 9:30 pm.
“They were four, all holding guns. They came in a car which they parked by the road site. They all came out and started shooting sporadically. One person was hit by a stray bullet and died on the way to the hospital.
“They also abducted three other persons, including my son. We are still waiting for their call to know their demands,” he said.
ASP Ahmed Rufa’i, the spokesperson of the Sokoto Police Command, confirmed that the deceased NDLEA official was returning to Sokoto’s metropolis when the incident occurred.
Rufa’i mentioned that the police were actively pursuing the assailants.
