BREAKING: Tinubu Signs Old National Anthem Bill Into Law
General Bola Tinubu has approved the National Anthem bill, officially endorsing the reinstatement of the old national anthem “Nigeria, We hail thee” into legal status.
The announcement was made by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during a joint session of the Senate and House of Representatives.
President Tinubu, speaking to the lawmakers, also mentioned his plans to introduce the 2024 Supplementary bill soon.
During his welcoming speech, Senate President Godswill Akpabio clarified that President Tinubu’s presence was merely a brief stopover to greet the lawmakers, as his primary purpose was to inaugurate the National Assembly Library.
Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, acknowledged and apologized for earlier misinformation regarding the visit of the President, attributing it to an error on the part of the National Assembly.
“The president has said that what ever speech we have to give should be shifted to June 12 which is democracy day, so to this effect the president will come flag off the recitation of the new National anthem after giving accent to it and will the after proceed to other important engagement.”
