Akpabio Tenders Apology To Natasha Over ‘Nightclub’ Controversy
Senate President Godswill Akpabio publicly apologized to his colleague Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan for his nightclub remarks.
During a recent session, Akpabio expressed his regret and clarified that he never had any intention of disrespecting a woman.
He emphasized on the Senate floor that there was no ill will towards Akpoti and pointed out that his wife, whom he deeply values, had brought his attention to the issue.
Akpabio said, “I will not intentionally denigrate any woman and I always pray that God will uplift women. Distinguished Senator Natasha, I want to apologize to you.”
He continued, “The interest shown on social media indicates that we have enemies. I felt I should tender a public apology to you.
“I do not mean any harm. People should focus on things that will move this country forward. Social media handlers should practice with decorum.
“We won’t regulate social media out of anger.”
Akpabio also addressed and refuted claims circulating on social media regarding his personal life, asserting that according to his religious beliefs, he is committed to his wife and stands by the sanctity of that relationship.
