BREAKING: APC’s Monday Okpebholo Wins Edo Gov Poll 

Senator Monday Okpebholo, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, secured victory over his main opponents, Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party and Olumide Akpata of the Labour Party,in the recent Edo State governorship election.

The announcement of Okpebholo’s win was made by the Returning Officer, Prof. Faruk Kuta, at the collation centre in Benin City, the state capital.

The APC candidate garnered 291,667 votes, surpassing Ighodalo who received 247,274 votes, while Akpata of the Labour Party finished in third place with 22,763 votes.

Prof. Kuta, Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, declared, “That Okpebholo, having satisfied the requirement of the law, is hereby declared the winner and returned elected.”

Edo State, with its 18 Local Government Areas, is geographically split into Edo North, Edo South, and Edo Central.

Historically, Edo North has been a stronghold for the APC, while the PDP has traditionally held sway in Edo Central and Edo South.
