BREAKING: Newcastle Emerge Winner Of 2025 Carabao Cup Final Against Liverpool FC
Newcastle United have ended a 70-year wait for silverware, defeating Liverpool 2-1 to claim the Carabao Cup title.
The Magpies’ last major triumph came in 1955 when they lifted the FA Cup. However, they endured decades of heartbreak, losing their next five final appearances—three in the FA Cup and two in the League Cup.
Their most recent disappointment was in 2023 when they fell 2-0 to Manchester United in the Carabao Cup final.
This time, boyhood Newcastle supporter Dan Burn opened the scoring with a powerful header just before halftime. Alexander Isak then extended their lead early in the second half with a clinical finish inside the box.
Federico Chiesa’s 96th-minute strike set up a nervy ending, but it proved to be nothing more than a consolation as Newcastle held firm to secure the long-awaited trophy.
Meanwhile, Liverpool, who were recently eliminated from the Champions League, remain comfortably atop the Premier League, holding a 12-point lead over Arsenal.
