Corps Members Celebrate as Federal Government Implements New Stipend

The Federal Government has officially commenced the payment of the newly approved ₦77,000 monthly allowance to National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members.
This long-awaited increase follows the implementation of the National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Act 2024, bringing relief to corps members who had eagerly anticipated the adjustment.
Reports indicate that corps members across the country began receiving payment notifications on Wednesday afternoon, signaling the end of months of uncertainty.
The allowance increase, initially announced in September 2024, was originally scheduled to take effect in July but faced delays due to budgetary constraints and administrative processes.
NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, had earlier assured corps members of the imminent payment.
During a visit to the scheme’s Zonal Offices in Wuse and Garki, Abuja, he reaffirmed the commitment to disbursing the new stipend, stating, “Starting from March, your monthly allowance will be Seventy-Seven Thousand Naira.
Several corps members on Wednesday, March 26, took to social media to post screenshots confirming the receipt of their payments.
Usman Lilussy on Facebook said; “Alhamdulillah 77k don land. Thank you baba DG”
Another corps member named Idris Yahuza posted saying; “This is the month of joy to all Corps Members 77k don enter.”
Adeleke Timothy corroborating with the development wrote; “The distance you keep while I was collecting 33k. Pls keep the same distance now FG thanks for the 77k”
