President Bola Tinubu, the Northern States Governors’ Forum (NSGF), and Deputy Senate President Barau Jibril have strongly condemned the brutal killing of travelers from northern Nigeria in Edo State. The victims were attacked in Udune Efandion community, Uromi, sparking nationwide outrage.

President Tinubu, in a statement by his spokesman Bayo Onanuga, expressed shock at the incident and ordered security agencies to conduct a swift investigation. “Jungle justice has no place in Nigeria,” Tinubu declared, vowing that perpetrators would face the law. He assured grieving families that the government would ensure justice.

NSGF Chairman and Gombe State Governor Inuwa Yahaya described the killings as “an appalling act that undermines the rule of law.” In a statement by his media aide Isma’il Uba Misilli, Yahaya demanded immediate arrest and prosecution of those responsible.

Deputy Senate President Barau Jibril called the attack “barbaric, inhumane, and devilish.” Through his media adviser Ismail Mudashir, Jibril announced plans to sponsor a Senate motion on the incident. “Nigeria’s diversity should unite us, not divide us,” he stressed, while appealing for calm.

The leaders extended condolences to victims’ families and reaffirmed citizens’ constitutional right to free movement across Nigeria. Security agencies have been directed to intensify efforts to apprehend the killers and prevent further violence.
