Labour Party Splits Into 3 as Leadership Claims Intensify

The Labour Party (LP) is experiencing a deep division, with three factions now publicly vying for leadership. Julius Abure, Senator Nenadi Usman, and Lamidi Apapa have all laid claim to the party’s national leadership, creating a state of confusion and uncertainty.
This situation arose after the Supreme Court invalidated the Court of Appeal’s decision that recognized Abure, citing jurisdictional issues regarding internal party matters. The NWC, supporting Abure, has defied the Supreme Court’s ruling, insisting he remains the party’s chairman.
This conflict threatens to destabilize the LP and undermine its standing within the Nigerian political landscape, already dominated by the APC and PDP.
