2025 BET Award: Burna Boy, Tems, Others Shortlisted
The nominees for the 2025 BET Awards have been announced, with the list released by the organisers on Thursday, May 8, 2025.
Five Nigerian Afrobeats artists, Burna Boy, Tems, Rema, Ayra Starr, and Shallipopi have earned nominations this year.
Ayra Starr led the Nigerian contingent with three nominations: Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, Best New Artist, and Best International Act.
Tems received two nominations in the BET Her category for her empowering songs Burning and Hold On.
Meanwhile, Rema, Shallipopi, and Burna Boy each secured one nomination. Burna Boy was listed for Best Male Hip-Hop Artist, Rema for Best International Act, and Shallipopi for Best New International Act.
Leading the overall nominations is American rapper Kendrick Lamar, with 10 nods, followed by Drake, Future, Doechii, and GloRilla, each with six.
The winners will be announced during a live ceremony on June 9 at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles, airing on BET.
